The Moira is one of the more moderate of the highway 7 springtime runs, and host to a popular river race every year. The river is usually still runnable after most of the other rivers in the area have become too low.

The weir at the put in is not runnable at any level, so put in on the left bank downstream. There are a number of fun rapids, and often several choices around islands. The bedrock is limestone, and sometimes traps some wood in lower water levels. At higher flows, the river becomes a set of fun, bouncy wavetrains, the only real hazard being the trees on the bank. Do not go past the take out as there is a dam just downstream.

To get to the take out; From Tweed, take Route 37 South. Past Roslin, turn left (East) onto Scuttlehole road. Immediately before the bridge, turn left into Hoskin road, and park on the right before the first house.

To get to the put in; Cross the bridge on Scuttlehole road. Turn left onto Shannonville road, and park on the leftt just before the bridge at Chisholm Lumber.
